On November 29, rapper Kanye West launched an exclusive pair of sneakers named Yeezys. These sneakers retail for a whopping $220 and are resold for hundreds more than its retail price. These sneakers caused many sneaker fans to camp outside of stores in hopes of purchasing a pair. Since the sneakers are so limited there is lots of hype around it which causes the media to go wild for these.
Lots of celebrities are spotted wearing these shoes including Kanye himself. These shoes are also extremely popular since trust fund kids go after them by spending a fortune on them buying them off resale sites such as StockX while the middle class resells them to make a fairly large profit. For example, one of the designs resells for $1000, so if someone gets their hands on two shoes they will be making $1560 before tax(the retail is $220). This is a highly attractive shoe to many people from different walks of life. Some aim to get these to look edgy or to make money.
